چکیده
One of the factors hindering the wide{spread application of qualitative simulation techniques is the diiculty encountered when developing a qualitative model. Analyzing the resulting behavioral description and revising the model in response to this analysis requires a signiicant amount of expertise and is often left up to the modeler. As a result, developing a qualitative model is diicult for users who are not familiar with the eld. Furthermore, this process is often not addressed within the literature making it diicult for such a user to obtain the necessary expertise except through trial and error. This paper addresses the process of model revision and presents a set of tools and methods to assist in the performance of this task. It also demonstrates how qualitative simulation can be used to obtain a more detailed understanding of the dynamical properties of the modeled system. The tools presented help the modeler extract information from a complex behavioral description by providing alternative views of the description, allowing the modeler to perform a focused search of the potential state space and providing explanation facilities for the branches occuring within the description. These tools and the methods are discussed with respect to the development of a semi{quantitative model of a controller for a tank.

متن کاملOn the Use of Min-Based Revision Under Uncertain Evidence for Possibilistic Classifiers
Possibilitic networks, which are compact representations of possibility distributions, are powerful tools for representing and reasoning with uncertain and incomplete knowledge. According to the operator conditioning is based on, there are two possibilistic settings: quantitative and qualitative. This paper deals with qualitative possibilistic network classifiers under uncertain inputs. More pr...
متن کاملLearning Styles and the Writing Process in a Digitally Blended Environment: Revising, Switching, and Pausing Behaviors in Focus
The present investigation sought to explore the relationship between learning styles and writing behaviors of EFL learners in a blended environment. It also aimed to identify the learning style types best predicting writing behaviors. Initially, the participants' preferred learning styles were identified through the Kolb’s learning style inventory (Kolb, 1984). Secondly, data were obtained thro...
متن کاملFinal Report on Rational Distributed Reason Maintenance for Planning and Replanning of Large-Scale Activities
Efficiency dictates that plans for large-scale distributed activities be revised incrementally, with parts of plans being revised only if the expected utility of identifying and revising the subplans improve on the expected utility of using the original plan. The problems of identifying and reconsidering the subplans affected by changed circumstances or goals are closely related to the problems...
متن کاملAn Injection Rate Optimization in a Water Flooding Case Study with an Adaptive Simulated Annealing Techniques
This paper introduces an effective production optimization and a water injection allocation method for oil reservoirs with water injection. In this method, a two-stage adaptive simulated annealing (ASA) is used. A coarse-grid model is made based on average horizon permeability at the beginning iterations of the optimization to search quickly. In the second stage, the fine-grid model is used to ...
